An epic fantasy raid entrance with massive stone gateway and glowing runes

WoW Forever Endgame Raids Preview: Barrow Deeps + Hyjal Summit

WoW Forever launches with two endgame raids on November 4, 2026: Barrow Deeps (10-player) and Hyjal Summit (20-player). This preview covers what’s confirmed, what we expect, and how to prepare. Beta doesn’t include max-level raids, so this guide is based on BlizzCon 2026 reveals and design team statements.

For dungeon guides, see our Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, and Excavation Site dungeon guides.

Quick summary: Barrow Deeps is the first 10-player raid, drops pre-bis gear, and is the easier of the two. Hyjal Summit is the 20-player progression raid with the best loot in the game. Both open at launch. Hyjal Summit is the more prestigious target.

Raid basics

Raid Size Difficulty Primary loot Recommended progress
Barrow Deeps 10-player Normal Pre-bis, tier-1 equivalent First week
Hyjal Summit 20-player Normal + Heroic Best-in-slot, tier-2 equivalent Weeks 2-4

Both raids will be available at launch (November 4, 2026). Beta (level 30 cap) doesn’t include endgame raids.

Barrow Deeps (10-player)

Overview

Barrow Deeps is a 10-player raid in the Western Plaguelands. The lore: an ancient troll burial ground has been disturbed, and undead horrors are spilling out. Players must descend into the depths and seal the threat.

Boss count and difficulty

8 bosses total. Estimated difficulty: moderate — should be clearable by most guilds within 2-3 weeks of launch.

Confirmed bosses

  1. Crypt Lord Horgus — entrance trash boss, dragon-like undead
  2. The Bloodless Queen — vampire-themed caster boss
  3. Bonegrinder the Devourer — cleaving AoE boss, requires tank positioning
  4. Tomb Sentinel — adds-management boss with interrupt mechanics
  5. The Wraithmother — fear-based boss, requires Will of the Forsaken racials
  6. Dreadlord Mal’kar — multi-phase boss with demon summons
  7. High Priestess Mar’li — healing-intensive boss with add waves
  8. Ancient King Menkaura — final boss, multi-phase, requires coordination

Loot tier

  • Item level: equivalent to Classic tier-1 sets (e.g., Molten Core gear)
  • Pre-bis for: most specs at launch
  • Tier set pieces: yes, full 8-piece tier set drops here
  • Weapons and trinkets: strong but not best-in-slot

Strategy highlights

  • Tanks: be ready for spike damage and cleave mechanics
  • Healers: expect moderate throughput, save cooldowns for boss add waves
  • DPS: fight mechanics vary — some are single-target, some require add management

Hyjal Summit (20-player)

Overview

Hyjal Summit is the 20-player progression raid, set in the aftermath of the Battle of Mount Hyjal from Warcraft III. The lore continues: Archimonde is defeated, but the demons left behind remnants that must be cleaned up. Players battle through fire, ash, and demons to secure the world tree.

Boss count and difficulty

9 bosses total. Estimated difficulty: hard — the prestigious progression raid that defines the first tier of raiding.

Confirmed bosses

  1. Ashbringer — trash mini-boss, fire elementals
  2. The Mountain King — tank-and-spank, lore boss
  3. Baron Charr — fire elemental boss with AoE damage
  4. Vyth’na the Doomcaller — warlock-themed boss with demonic adds
  5. Archimonde’s Echo — adds-management boss with multiple demon waves
  6. Rage Winterchill — frost-themed boss with movement mechanics
  7. Anetheron — multi-phase boss with infernals
  8. Azgalor — anti-magic boss with curse management
  9. Archimonde Reborn — final boss, requires full raid coordination

Loot tier

  • Item level: equivalent to Classic tier-2 sets (e.g., Blackwing Lair gear)
  • Best-in-slot for: most specs at launch tier
  • Tier set pieces: yes, full 8-piece tier set drops here (tier-2 quality)
  • Legendaries: at least 1 legendary is expected to drop from final boss

Strategy highlights

  • Tanks: prepare for high spike damage and movement-heavy mechanics
  • Healers: high throughput required, multiple healing CDs needed
  • DPS: many fights are movement-heavy and require add management
  • Raid composition: 20 players, expect 2 tanks + 4-5 healers + 13-14 DPS standard

Pre-launch preparation

To be ready for raid launch:

  1. Reach level 60 — focus on leveling speed (see our Leveling Guide)
  2. Get pre-bis gear — farm dungeons, do PvP, run profession crafts
  3. Pre-make consumables — stockpile flasks, potions, food, scrolls
  4. Find a guild — recruit via Reddit r/wowguilds or community discords
  5. Practice mechanics — beta won’t have these raids, watch guide videos

Raid comparison

Dimension Barrow Deeps Hyjal Summit

Difficulty Moderate Hard
Loot tier Tier-1 (pre-bis) Tier-2 (best-in-slot)
Estimated clear time 8-12 weeks 12-24 weeks

Likely class balance for raids

Based on Beta Day 1 theorycrafting:

Role Top picks Why
Tank Warrior (Prot), Paladin (Prot) Best threat generation
Healer Priest (Holy/Disc), Druid (Resto), Paladin (Holy) Strong throughput
Melee DPS Warrior (Fury), Rogue, Undead Paladin (new) Strong scaling
Caster DPS Mage (Frost/Fire), Warlock Best parses

Expect class balance to shift during the first tier of raiding. Tune in to class discord communities for the latest theorycraft.

FAQ

When do the raids open?

Both raids open at launch on November 4, 2026. Beta doesn’t include endgame raids (level cap 30).

Which raid should I do first?

Barrow Deeps (10-player) is the easier starting point. Most guilds will clear it before tackling Hyjal Summit.

How long does it take to clear both raids?

Barrow Deeps: 2-3 weeks for casual guilds, 1-2 for serious guilds. Hyjal Summit: 8-12 weeks for casual, 4-8 for serious guilds.

Will there be Heroic difficulty for Barrow Deeps?

Blizzard hasn’t confirmed. Likely yes, released in a post-launch patch.

Will there be raid finder / Looking for Raid?

Not confirmed. LFR is a modern WoW feature and Forever is closer to Vanilla conventions.

Final verdict

Barrow Deeps is your first raid target — moderate difficulty, pre-bis loot, accessible to most guilds.

Hyjal Summit is the prestige progression raid — high difficulty, best-in-slot loot, requires serious commitment.

For most players, start with Barrow Deeps and progress to Hyjal Summit as your guild builds gear and experience.

Beta doesn’t include these raids, so use the launch window to level, gear up, and find a guild. Pre-launch preparation is critical.

For pre-launch leveling guides, see our Beta Leveling Guide and Endgame Prep Guide.
