WoW Forever Mage Guide: Frost, Fire, Arcane Specs and Builds

Mage is the strongest solo-leveling class in WoW Forever and one of the top three DPS specs in PvE raiding. With three distinct talent specializations — Frost, Fire, and Arcane — Mage offers more build variety than any other caster. This guide covers each spec, talent builds, leveling rotations, dungeon tips, and PvP fundamentals.

Mage utility in groups:

• Conjure food and water — mandatory raid utility

• Glass cannon — extremely fragile in melee

Best for: Leveling, PvP, dungeon tanking via kiting, beginners

Talent build (leveling)

Priority order (first 30 points):

1. Improved Frostbolt (5/5) — mandatory
2. Frostbite (3/3) — chill effects proc slow
3. Piercing Ice (3/3) — +6% Frost damage
4. Ice Shards (5/5) — crit damage boost
5. Frost Warding (5/5) — defensive
6. Shatter (5/5) — crit on chilled targets
7. Cold Snap (1/1) — reset cooldowns

Then deep Frost or transition to Fire/Arcane at 40+.

Rotation (leveling)

• Pull with Frostbolt (your main nuke)
• Cast Cone of Cold when adds are close
• Use Ice Barrier before tough pulls
• Blink away when mobs reach melee
• Use Frost Nova as emergency escape

PvP tips

• Polymorph the healer in team fights
• Ice Block through incoming burst
• Frost Nova to peel melee off you
• Counterspell interrupts are crucial

Fire Mage — the burst king

Best for: PvE raiding, high-end parsing, mana-rich fights

4. Improved Scorch (3/3)

Rotation (raid)

• Maintain Scorch debuff on boss (5% spell crit)
• Fireball as main nuke
• Use Combustion on burn phase
• Use Fire Blast proc from Master of Elements
• DPS during Heroism/Bloodlust windows

Mana management

Fire is the most mana-intensive spec. Use Mana Emerald or Demonic Rune between pulls. In long fights, Evocate at safe HP percentage.

Arcane Mage — the AoE master

Best for: AoE farming, gold making, burst windows, parse runs

Rotation (AoE)

• Arcane Explosion for AoE packs (5+ mobs)
• Arcane Blast for single target burst
• Use Presence of Mind + Arcane Blast for instant burst
• Use Arcane Power on cooldown

Mana management

Arcane uses Mana like water. Stock up on Demonic Runes and Mana Emeralds. Consider Arcane Concentration talent for free casts.
