Excavation Site Dungeon Guide: All Bosses, Loot, and Strategy (2026)

Excavation Site Dungeon Guide: All Bosses, Loot, and Strategy
Excavation Site is the third major new dungeon in WoW Forever, tuned for level 24-29 players. The dungeon has a multi-stage narrative about mysterious excavations in the Wetlands, three bosses, and a rare spawn (Brogdul the Excavator) with a chance at a dungeon-tier trinket. This guide covers all bosses, loot, the rare spawn, and the optimal leveling route.
For other Forever dungeons, see our Hall of Thanes Guide (level 13-18) and Ruins of Lordaeron Guide (level 15-20).
Quick summary: Excavation Site is the best XP-per-hour dungeon for levels 25-29. Three bosses + 1 rare spawn. The final boss drops the Excavator’s Trowel trinket — best caster trinket in the bracket. Recommended party: tank, healer, 3x DPS.
Dungeon basics
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Level range | 24-29 (23 accepted) |
| Bosses | 3 + 1 rare spawn |
| Estimated clear time | 30-40 minutes (fresh), 22-28 (optimized) |
| Recommended party | Tank, Healer, 3x DPS |
| Rare spawn | Brogdul the Excavator (chance for trinket) |
Location
Excavation Site is in the Wetlands, just south of the main road between Menethil Harbor and the main wetlands zone. The dungeon entrance is a partially-excavated stone archway at coordinates (52, 38).
For Horde players, the closest flight path is in Arathi Highlands. From there, run south to Wetlands. Avoid the marshlight creatures on the way — they’re 28-30 elite mobs.
Quests inside
There are 6 dungeon quests available from the quest NPC at the entrance:
- “The Excavation Mystery” — main quest, complete the dungeon
- “Stones of Power” — collect 10 stone relics from mobs
- “Brogdul’s Broken Pick” — drops from the rare spawn
- “The Excavator’s Ledger” — found in a hidden chest
- “Ancient Titan-Tech” — rare drop from final boss
- “Excavation Site Champion” — kill all bosses + Brogdul
All 6 quests net roughly 5,000 XP bonus plus Thorium Brotherhood reputation.
Boss guide

Mechanics:
- Demoralizing Shout — reduces party attack power by 10%
- Slam — bonus damage on tank
- Summon Worker — adds 2 dwarven laborers at 50% HP
Strategy:
- Tank holds boss in center of room
- DPS burns boss to 50% HP, then switches to adds
- Worker adds are squishy but do significant damage if ignored
- Healer cleans up the damage spikes from adds
Loot:
- Stonehide’s Helmet (Plate head, +12 Stamina, +8 Strength)
- Foreman’s Pickaxe (2H Mace, +15 Strength)
- Excavation Map (Trinket, +5% movement speed for 1 hour)

HP: ~10,200 | Level: 27 Recommended level: 26+
Mechanics:
- Earth Shock — interrupt + damage, 8 sec CD
- Healing Stream Totem — heals nearby mobs
- Stoneclaw Totem — taunts and damages melee
- Chain Heal — heals 3 injured allies
Strategy:
- Kill Healing Stream Totem FIRST (1 hit from any DPS)
- Kill Stoneclaw Totem second (tank can solo)
- Interrupt Earth Shock on the healer
- Spread out for Chain Heal (don’t stack)
Loot:
- Earthspeaker’s Bindings (Mail wrist, +8 Intellect)
- Yeva’s Stone Focus (Wand, +15 Spell Power)
- Totem of the Earthen Ring (Off-hand, +12 Intellect)
Boss 3: The Sealed Titan

Mechanics:
- Titanic Smash — front cone attack, 1500 damage
- Sand Storm — AoE damage, party loses positioning
- Earthen Shield — +90% damage reduction for 10 sec, dispellable
- Awaken — at 30% HP, summons 4 earthen adds
Strategy:
- Don’t stand in front of the boss — sidestep Titanic Smash
- Dispel Earthen Shield immediately when applied
- Save cooldowns for the Awaken phase
- Burn the earthen adds quickly
- Healer pre-casts big heals before Sand Storm
Loot:
- Excavator’s Trowel (Trinket, +45 Spell Power for 20 sec, 2 min CD) — best caster trinket pre-30

Rare spawn: Brogdul the Excavator
HP: ~22,000 | Level: 30 (World Rare Elite) Spawn timer: ~2-4 hours after death Spawn location: Hidden chamber in the dungeon (only accessible via side path)
Note: This is a world rare that can spawn inside or outside the dungeon. Multiple groups may compete.
Mechanics:
- Earthquake — heavy AoE damage
- Furious Strike — high damage on tank
- Brogdul’s Last Stand — at 10% HP, +50% damage
Strategy:
- Need a full 5-man group + ideally 1-2 backup DPS
- Tank with cooldowns ready
- Burn through the 10% Last Stand with cooldowns
- Avoid Earthquake by spreading out
Loot:
- Brogdul’s Mining Pick (2H Axe, +25 Strength, +10 Mining skill) — rare drop, ~10%
- Excavator’s Hard Hat (Mail head, +12 Stamina, +15 Mining skill) — rare drop, ~5%
- Heart of the Excavation (Trinket, summon an earthen assistant for 10 min, 1 hour CD) — very rare drop, ~1%
The trinket is the most-coveted drop. Server-first Brogdul kills typically get celebrated.

Final verdict
Excavation Site is the best XP-per-hour dungeon for levels 25-28, and the Excavator’s Trowel / Titan Stone Fragment trinkets are mandatory for any caster or melee DPS pre-30. Queue as tank or healer for instant pops.
Do all 6 dungeon quests for bonus XP and reputation. The Brogdul chamber check is also worth doing — the rare spawn trinket is incredibly strong if you get lucky.
Run this dungeon at least 5-7 times while leveling 25-28. The XP is great and the gear drops carry you to level 30 easily.
