Hall of Thanes Dungeon Guide: All Bosses, Loot, and Best Route (2026)

Hall of Thanes Dungeon Guide: All Bosses, Loot, and Best Route
Hall of Thanes is the first major new dungeon in WoW Forever, tuned for level 13-18 players. The dungeon is set in ancient dwarven halls beneath Ironforge, with four bosses and a final encounter that drops one of the best starter trinkets in the game. This guide covers every boss strategy, the loot table, the fastest route, and the recommended party composition.
For overall leveling strategy, see our Beta Leveling Guide. For other Forever dungeons, see our Excavation Site Guide (level 24-29) and Ruins of Lordaeron Guide (level 15-20).
Quick summary: Hall of Thanes is tuned for 13-18 but accepts level 12. Clear time is 25-35 minutes for a fresh group, 18-22 minutes for an optimized group. The final boss drops the Thane’s Last Command trinket — the best pre-20 trinket in the game. Recommended party: tank, healer, 3x DPS.
Dungeon basics

Location
Hall of Thanes is accessed through Ironforge’s main gate, north of the city. The dungeon entrance is a stone archway at coordinates (56, 47) in Dun Morogh.
For Horde players, the run to the entrance is through Wetlands → Loch Modan → Dun Morogh. Expect hostile NPCs on the way — use stealth (Rogue) or invisibility potions if available.
Quests inside
There are 5 dungeon quests available from the entrance NPC and Ironforge quest board:
- “The Thane’s Last Stand” — kill the final boss (main quest)
- “Ancient Dwarven Relics” — collect 8 relics from mobs
- “The Stonewatcher’s Pendant” — drops from the second boss
- “Runestone of Binding” — found in a hidden room
- “Thane’s Last Command” — turn in the trinket to start a chain quest
Doing all five quests nets roughly 3,500 XP bonus plus reputation with Ironforge.

Best route through the dungeon
The fastest route is left path → right path → final chamber:
- Pull #1-3: Trash packs in the entrance hall
- Boss 1: Warden Ironbrand at the end of the left wing
- Pull #4-6: Trash in the central courtyard
- Boss 2: Stonewatcher Golad in the eastern corridor
- Pull #7-9: Trash in the upper gallery
- Boss 3: Twilight Emissary in the chapel
- Pull #10-12: Trash in the stone vault (skip the optional pack)
- Boss 4: The Ancient Guardian at the foot of the throne
- Pull #13-14: Pre-final trash (skip if low on mana/cooldowns)
- Boss 5: Thane Ironbeard in the throne room
Skip the optional side rooms unless your group is over-leveled or doing quests.
Recommended party composition
| Role | Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Warrior (Prot) or Paladin (Prot) | Best threat generation |
| Healer | Priest (Discipline) or Druid (Restoration) | Strong throughput + utility |
| DPS 1 | Mage (Frost) | Strong AoE for trash |
| DPS 2 | Rogue or Warrior (Fury) | Strong single-target |
| DPS 3 | Hunter or Warlock | Pet utility + ranged safety |
Alternative DPS: Any class works. Avoid bringing 4 melee — AoE trash packs are the main threat.

Final verdict
Hall of Thanes is the best XP-per-hour dungeon for levels 13-16, and the Thane’s Last Command trinket is mandatory for any melee DPS character pre-20. Queue as a tank or healer for instant pops, or as DPS with a 5-15 minute wait.
Do all 5 dungeon quests for bonus XP. The trinket chain quest is also worth starting — it leads to a level 30 quest reward that’s competitive with dungeon blues.
Run this dungeon at least 3 times while leveling 13-17. The trinket and gear drops are strong enough to carry you to level 20.
For the next dungeon in your leveling path, see our Ruins of Lordaeron Guide (level 15-20) and Excavation Site Guide (level 24-29).
